In March 2016 Unicorn Refugees, a group of people from many countries, started meeting once a month. We created a space for ourselves where we can talk about our situation as newcomers to Germany, get information to find our way here and ways of letting our voices be heard.
Usually, English and Arabic are the main languages spoken at the meetings.
Come together! Monthly networking meeting for LGBTTIQ refugees
Meet other lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, intersexual and queer refugees. You can chat, have a coffee or tea and develop new ideas together. If you are still living in a camp, sometimes the feeling may arise that you are the only one. The long asylum process and German bureaucracy seem overwhelming at times? Don’t worry, you are not alone. Today you can meet others and find a new support network.
Your questions, ideas and suggestions will be at the center of this evening. Bring along your friends!

Together the group prepares it participation at the Berlin Pride in July 2019. Starting from Mannheim we will show our pride!

Self-Help, Inner Stability and Wellbeing: Workshop for LGBTIQ* Refugees
Many LGBTQ* refugees experience symptoms of distress such as anxiety, worries, sadness, sleeplessness, and distressing thoughts, memories and feelings. These symptoms are a well-known consequence of stressful experiences. The affected person can manage these symptoms with the help of special skills and materials. Funded by HMS PLUS offers a workshop focused on Self-Hepl, Inner Stabiliy and Wellbeing. This workshop will include information, tips and exercises on this topic. Its aim is to empower LGBTQ* refugees to help themselves on a path towards inner stability and psychological wellbeing. Participants will learn self-help skills and relaxation methods. These can be used for stress relief and symptom management. The workshop will also give participants a chance to rediscover their strengths and passions, and to rebuild self-confidence.
