Counseling
Psychological counseling has to provide a safe space where gender identity and sexual orientation are accepted and not questioned or looked upon condescendingly. Therefore PLUS was founded by lesbians and gays: A psychological counseling centre for
LGBTTIQ
Lesbian women
Gay men
Bisexual individuals
Transsexual individuals
Transgender individuals
Intersexual individuals
Queer individuals
Our offers are open to anybody who isn’t heterosexual or cis-gender and the people around them, as well as professional institutions.
PLUS offers psychological counseling for individuals, couples, and families, for example concerning crises, conflicts, coming-out, relationships or other related topics.
Due to the project „Establishing country-wide counseling for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, intersexual and queer people“ (more information here), counseling is free. This is financed in line with the action plan „Acceptance and equal rights“ from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
Youth
Supporting teens, young adults and their families in the often stressful but also liberating time of coming-out is an important aspect of the work PLUS does. There are five established youth groups (JuLe, Gipfelstürmer, Deltaboys, sT*ernchen and sT*ars), open to any teen and young adult searching advise or community.
The youth goups organise themselves and meet regularly. What meetings look like is up to each group. Group leaders are supervised by psychologists of PLUS. You can find more information on the youth‘s homepage: http://jugend.plus-mannheim.de
Counseling for Youth and Families
PLUS advises teens, young adults, their families and professionals concerning any questions about life, love and coming-out.
Lgbttiq people planning on having / wanting children or with children can also seek advisory on the topics of wanting and having children, up-bringing and family life. PLUS is well connected to the Foster Children Service in Mannheim, whose seminars are open to rainbow families, too.
Due to the financing of the city of Mannheim, offers are free to anyone from Mannheim until the age of 27 years, parents and professionals. At the moment others can also require support freely – this is made possible by the statewide project.

Come together! Monthly networking meeting for LGBTTIQ refugees
Meet other lesbian, gay, transsexual, transgender, intersexual and queer refugees. You can chat, have a coffee or tea and develop new ideas together. If you are still living in a camp, sometimes the feeling may arise that you are the only one. The long asylum process and German bureaucracy seem overwhelming at times? Don’t worry, you are not alone. Today you can meet others and find a new support network.
Your questions, ideas and suggestions will be at the center of this evening. Bring along your friends!
If you would like to join the group, please contact us and we will inform you about the next dates!
